I have been to more than six hotels in the maldives already, but I can tell you Joali really left me speechless, this place for sure is a dream! The hotel is located on the Muravandhoo islands in the northern Maldives (Raa Atoll) and there you will see the clearest water you ever saw and the whitest beaches, actually it looks like it is photoshopped. It's not a difficult journey to travel to Joali, you can take a seaplane from the main island Male and fly in around 40 min to Joali. When we arrived we were welcomed very warmly with a bottle of champagne and some delicious pastry and shortly after we were brought to our stunning overwater villa which had around 100m² and a huge sun-deck to overlook the stunning blue sea. Not to forget the spacious infinity pool with a sundeck that has direct access to the ocean, where we literally spend several hours every day... When you visit Joali you have the choice either to book one of the beach villas (with a total interior area of 108 - 117 m²), one of the water villas (with interior space around 100m²) and last but not least the residences. Here you have to choose between the "Family Beach Villas with 2 Pools" which are about 140m² big and capable for up to 4 people, the "Ocean Residence with 2 Pools", that offer 3 sleeping rooms with a total area space of 400m², and the hugest gem of Joali is the "Beach residence with Pool", this residence is 500m² big, has 4 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 8 persons. We were shown around in this stunning villa during our stay and I was really impressed by the beauty and chicness of this place. You will find your own library there and not to forget a separate butler room that allows a round the clock service on premise. Another point that is of course very important when you will choose your destination for your maldives trip is the fare! As you will be on an island you will, needless to say, not have the same possibilities as on the mainland. Therefore you should choose a resort that offers a good fare and has several restaurants on the island, so you will have a good range of different cuisines to try... Joali offers plenty of possibilities luckily: You will have to decide between 3 restaurants; Vandhoo - which serves asian cuisine, Soake serves japanese food and Bellinis is a very tasty italian restaurant. Additionally you will also find some other culinary treats on the island, for example an ice-cream store and the Mura Pool Bar. Of course there is plenty of other things you can do while you are on the island, besides eating and relaxing under the warm maldivian sun ;) Joali offers several interesting activities, like yachting, water sports and tailor-made experiences such as a romantic sunset trip for example. If you are thinking about booking a stay you will find all required information on their website! Personally, I can say that Joali is one of the most breathtaking and unique hotels I have ever stayed. My personal highlight: After sunset the laterns on the jetty will light up and while your driving home to your water villa by bike (or buggy, that is up to you) you will feel like you are driving through a sea of candles and around you there is only darkness and the soft swoosh of the ocean waves... dreamlike!
